October 17, 2016 – Leading commercial sport drainage manufacturer,
ACO Polymer Products, Inc., provided their KlassikDrain four-inch wide modular
trench drainage system for the new state-of-the-art tennis courts at the new
USTA National Campus in Orlando, FL, set to open early 2017.
During
the design phase, the team wanted to make sure the tennis courts could drain
quickly and efficiently, ensuring play could resume shortly after a rain event.
Due to this requirement and the depth of the trench drain channel with the
concrete curbing depths, the design team selected the ACO KlassikDrain K100
system, a four-inch internal width trench drain, along with a black
longitudinal, ADA-compliant grate, to ensure the safety of players and spectators,
while keeping the courts dry. Twice the amount of catch basins than typically
used in tennis court design was used in the project to account for the shallow
trench drain channels.
Installation
contractor, JR Davis, used a hanging installation method that allowed for
placement of 3 one-meter channels at a time, which reduced installation and
labor cost and optimized the construction schedule.
The USTA National Campus is the new Home
of American Tennis, where tennis enthusiasts can come to watch, learn and play
at one of the largest tennis facilities in the world. Set to open in early
2017, the USTA National Campus is a one-of-a-kind facility that will
serve as host to local play for residents of the Orlando community as well as
for national, individual and collegiate events, and it will be the home base
for USTA Player Development and the USTA’s Community Tennis division.
ACO introduced the concept
of modular trench drains to North America over 30 years ago. Today, ACO in
North America is a multi-site manufacturing and sales operation using a variety
of materials for its extensive range of drainage products for all aspects of
building and construction.
